Spain won its first ever FIFA World Cup on July 11, 2010 with 1-0 victory over the Netherlands at Socccer city Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Both Spain and Netherland had never won the title before and it was the time to welcome a new champion this year and Soain won the cup amongh much cheer. Netherland had played in the final twice before in 1974 and 1978 but were unlucky both the times and this time too, the Dutch stars Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder failed to turned the result into their favour. Andres Iniesta scored the title winning goal for Spain in the 116th minute in front of 84, 490 spectators at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. Spain became the eighth world champion in World Cup history joining Brazil, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Uruguay, England and France.
